Local residents gathered in Market Place on Saturday 14th April for '#LoveEvesham', an event hosted by Evesham Council to celebrate the successes of the Town Plan to date.

Opened by the Mayor of Evesham, Cllr. Richard Jones, the event showcased the many projects and community groups working to bring about the Town Plan vision, and included children's activities, various attractions and even a goody bag for visitors compiled by Evesham's independent businesses.

The event also gave members of the public an opportunity to speak to the Evesham Town Plan Committee and discuss upcoming projects.

Cllr Jones commented: "We'd like to say a resounding thank you to everyone from the area who came along on Saturday, as well as the people involved in the planning who made '#LoveEvesham' a big success.

"We had lovely weather and a fantastic turnout, and it was great to see the community come together to celebrate our town."

#LoveEvesham was held to celebrate and encourage community participation in the Town Plan, which was introduced in 2015 with the aim of protecting the town's heritage, increasing the range of retail and food outlets in the town centre, improving the local environment and promoting Evesham as a beautiful, historic and interesting place to visit.

Projects promoted and supported by the Town Plan Committee include ‘Enlighten’, working with Wychavon District Council to create a trail of floodlit historic buildings in the town, the Evesham Abbey project, and the development of a network of cycle and footpaths in and around the town.

Colin Tether,  Chairman of the Evesham Town Plan Committee, added:: "The Town Plan belongs to the people of Evesham and we rely on the support of our local residents. It's with events like these that we can discuss shared thoughts, hopes and dreams for the future of our town."

Town Plan Committee members are encouraging those who were unable to attend #LoveEvesham at the weekend to get involved in other ways, such as pledging support for individual or several projects by becoming a Town Plan Ambassador.
