PUBLIC MEETING TO CONSIDER NEW HOMES BONUS PROJECTS
12 June 2018 at 6pm in Evesham Town Hall
Evesham Town Council is hosting a public meeting as part of the allocation of New Homes Bonus (NHB) money.  In the current year, the Town Council has up to £267,000 of NHB funding to allocate.
The Town Council has been approached by three organisations about NHB funding and we now want to consult the people of Evesham to see if they think they are good projects to fund.
The projects put forward for consultation are:
The Almonry museum – restoration of roof and new electrics
Evesham Bowls Club – New pavilion
Evesham Arts Centre/Prince Henry’s School – Replacement and widened access road
The next stage is to consult with the public to gauge what support there is for each project.  Those who attend the meeting can listen to a short presentation, ask questions, complete a questionnaire and have a say on where this money should be spent.
Stuart Carter, Evesham Town Clerk said ‘the Town Council are really keen to hear what the people of Evesham think about each of these projects, and it is a great opportunity to have their say.  We hope to have representatives from all of the projects at the event that will be able to give greater detail and answer questions.  However you don’t have to come along to be part of the consultation.  The questionnaire will also be made available via the Town Council’s website’.
Respondents are not asked to pick one project over an other as there is enough funding for all.  We are seeking views ion the merits of each project and whether the people of Evesham think NHB funding should go to them
The feedback from the evening and from the wider consultation will be considered by the Council and assist them in their decision as to whether to formally submit each project to Wychavon District Council for NHB funding.
What is New Homes Bonus?
The government introduced the New Homes Bonus in April 2011.  The bonus was designed to ensure that the economic benefits of housing growth are returned to the councils and communities where that growth takes place.  For every new home built and occupied in Wychavon, and every long-term empty home brought back into use, the government gives Wychavon District Council (WDC) a non-ring fenced New Homes Bonus grant each year for six years.  WDC in turn ring-fence a percentage of this to town and parish councils for local projects.
For more information please contact the Evesham Town Clerk Stuart Carter.
